MiniMoves
We do not publish a numeric score for moving companies.
MiniMoves Inc files from Roosevelt Road in Hillside, Illinois, active on the federal census as a carrier and freight forwarder with five power units, six drivers, an MCS-150 filed 25 April 2025 and two dockets on the registration: MC-268180 and FF-1562. The licensing record shows four authority roles and they are reported separately rather than merged: motor carrier of household goods, motor carrier of property, freight forwarder of household goods and freight forwarder of property. Freight forwarder authority is a distinct federal role from carrier authority and is stated as such rather than folded into the carrier line. The company publishes the same USDOT number and both dockets on its own site. The Illinois Commerce Commission number it also publishes is a state identifier, and the FMC licence number is a Federal Maritime Commission credential rather than an FMCSA registration; neither is recorded as a federal motor carrier registration. FMCSA safety rating on file: Satisfactory, dated 31 July 2001, following a later compliance review dated 18 August 2016 that the file records as non-ratable; that is a dated federal snapshot and not a current safety score. The company states that MiniMoves was created in 1991 and has specialised in small moves since.
- Best for
- Small shipments, studio and one-bedroom apartment moves and single-item long-distance jobs that are too large to ship and too small for a full van-line trailer
- Main trade-off
- Five power units and six drivers is a very small fleet, so most long-distance capacity depends on consolidation scheduling rather than on a dedicated truck, and the safety rating on file dates from 2001.

What is MiniMoves's USDOT number and is its authority active?
The USDOT number of MiniMoves is 526036. This reflects the federal record as of 2026-08-15.
Is MiniMoves licensed to move within Illinois?
For a move that stays inside Illinois, movers are authorised by Illinois Commerce Commission, and the authorisation is called Household Goods License. A consumer can check an individual mover in the agency's own public lookup. We have not verified MiniMoves's Illinois authorisation, and nothing here says it lacks one. Holding federal interstate authority is a separate thing from holding state authorisation for a move that starts and ends inside one state.

How big is MiniMoves's fleet?
MiniMoves reports 5 power units and 6 drivers on its federal registration. Power units count trucks, tractors and other self-powered vehicles the company operates, not trailers. MiniMoves last updated that federal registration on April 25, 2025, so the counts describe the fleet as filed on that date rather than today.

Is MiniMoves a carrier, a broker, or both?
MiniMoves holds motor carrier authority on its federal licensing record and does not hold property broker authority. Carrier authority means MiniMoves is licensed to perform moves with its own trucks and crews rather than arrange them through another company. The crew that arrives on moving day works under this authority, and MiniMoves carries the federal liability for the shipment. The licensing record for MiniMoves shows household goods authority, property authority, and no broker authority, no passenger authority.

Is MiniMoves authorised to move household goods?
MiniMoves holds active operating authority covering household goods on its federal licensing record. This is a stronger statement than the cargo classification on the census registration. Authority is the licence to carry that freight for hire, and it has to be active for MiniMoves to move a household across state lines lawfully.

Has MiniMoves had a federal compliance review?
MiniMoves has a federal compliance review recorded on August 18, 2016. The federal record marks that review as non-ratable, which means it did not result in a safety rating. A non-ratable review is neither a pass nor a failure: it records that the review took place and that no rating was assigned from it, so MiniMoves carries no federal safety rating from this review.

Information provided by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
How much can a mover charge above a non-binding estimate?
On an interstate move priced with a non-binding estimate, a mover may require no more than 110% of the estimated charges before it will release your goods at delivery. That cap is set by 49 CFR 375.407, and it applies to the mover you hire regardless of what the final weight turns out to be. Anything owed above that amount is not payable on delivery day: the mover must bill you for it, and you have 30 days from delivery to pay it under 49 CFR 375.407.

What is a mover liable for if my belongings are damaged?
Every interstate mover must offer released value, the no-extra-charge level of liability set by 49 CFR 375.701. Under released value the mover owes 60 cents per pound per article, so a claim is settled on what a damaged item weighs rather than on what it is worth. A heavy item pays out more than a light expensive one. The alternative is full value protection, which a mover must also offer, costs extra, and settles at repair, replacement, or a cash equivalent. Released value applies by default if you sign nothing else.
